Russian Breaks Butterfly Record Denis Pankratov of Russia broke a9-year-old world record in the men's 100-meter butterfly today at theEuropean champions with a time of 52.32 seconds. Pankrotov, 20,bettered the mark of 52.84 set by American Pablo Morales at the 1986World Championships. Morales' record was the oldest men's swimmingrecord on the books. The Russian also set the 200 meters butterflyrecord this year at a meet in Canet, France, with a clocking of1:55.22.
