FED:Expect hung parliament: Costello

MELBOURNE, Aug 21 AAP - Former Liberal treasurer Peter Costello says he expects a hung
parliament.

"Unless there are some big gains in Victoria, I think this is a hung parliament," he
told the Nine Network.

With 31 per cent of the vote counted, the Australian Electoral Commission was calling
60 seats for Labor, 49 to the coalition, three to independents and one to the Australian
Greens.

It had 37 seats still undecided.

Across the nation, after the distribution of preferences, Labor was behind the coalition
on 49.85 per cent of the vote, a swing against it of 2.75 per cent.

The coalition was on 50.15 per cent of the vote.
